Dear friend of ECC
Ecumenical Christian Centre was
established in 1963 by the Late Rev. Dr. M.A. Thomas with the vision of
promoting “unity of humankind as an expression of radical obedience to Christ.”
ECC offers a forum for believers and non-believers alike to congregate and
engage in dialogue on moral and ethical values and for social change and
harmony. ECC’s sylvan campus of 29 acres houses 27 buildings including staff quarters
and facilities for conferences and conventions. The Centre is deeply involved
in environmental management and preservation of flora and fauna.
ECC is an International
organization registered under the Indian Companies Act of 1956 as a charitable institution,
and is governed by its articles. There are 22 constituent bodies in the ECC
Council from the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Mar Thoma and Protestant traditions.
ECC conducts seminars and
workshops on a variety of topics ranging from human rights to spirituality, ecology
and environment to probity in public life with a view to shape appropriate
ethical and moral responses to them.
Additionally, the Indian School
of Ecumenical Theology, a programme wing of ECC, conducts programmes focussing
on unity of humankind and integrity of creation.
International Institute of
Horticulture Management (IIHM), another programme unit of ECC, imparts training
on hi-tech floriculture, precision-farming, growing medicinal and aromatic
plants, etc.
ECC also offers free schooling
for the children of migrant workers who live in nearby villages.
In 2013 the Ecumenical
Christian Centre completes 50 years of service to the country and the churches in
India and the community at large. Several thousands of people, irrespective of
religion, caste, class, age, race, gender and nationality have benefited from
the programmes offered by ECC in these 50 years.
ECC needs 50 more rooms to
accommodate the additional demand of our society. The estimated cost is Rs. 5
crore.
We seek your support in meeting
this crucial need and request you to contribute liberally. ECC’s service to
community and country would be richer by your gesture. This is the first time
since the formation of ECC in 1963 that we are approaching the public for
support. We believe we have the goodwill for that and that you have the heart
to support our efforts.
Your contributions may be made
by Cheque/Draft favouring “Ecumenical Christian Centre” payable at Whitefield,
Bangalore 560 066 or by NEFT with due initimation.
